Pierre recently joined the Two Trees team in 2016 and serves as the Senior Occupational Therapist within the neurological and pediatric clinics. During his early exposure to neuro-rehabilitation, he was involved in a clinical elective for the University of Southern California at the Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center within the Stroke Survivor Unit. To date, his recent clinical expertise was focused on working with traumatic brain injury and stroke survivors, and assisting with vision therapy, return to work, return to driving, and community reintegration.
Dr. Clay completed his Doctorate in Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at the University of Southern California in 2013 where he provided occupation-based intervention for at-risk youth and families throughout the Greater Los Angeles area labeled with mental health illnesses. During Dr. Clay’s clinical residency at a psychiatric hospital, he designed and implemented Recovery-Oriented Service Trainings for therapists and collaborated with the CEO and upper administration to develop hospital policies to promote a change culture centered around improved client care and recovery-oriented services. Dr. Clay was published in the Mental Health Special Interest Section for the American Occupational Therapy Association in 2013 for his research and advocacy titled, “Shared Principles: The Recovery Model and Occupational Therapy.” He has also participated as a conference presenter for the Occupational Therapy Association of California for his research.
Pierre's past experience spans multiple populations to include school-based occupational therapy and early intervention outpatient pediatric services with a focus on sensory strategies, autism, developmental delays, and social skills. He is passionate about helping people find more health, happiness and meaning in everyday life in spite of cognitive, emotional, and physical disabilities.
Fun facts: Pierre enjoys spending time his lovely wife, going to the park with his two dogs, and traveling to new places. He is also a scuba-diving certified, but doesn't know how to swim (talk about overcoming his fears!), playing the piano, relaxing at the beach, and enjoys rooting for Los Angeles based sports teams!
